Robot Integration Project

Challenge:
To economically produce and deliver repeat order of parts with high quality.

Approach:
Introduce automation to increase speed, accuracy and also eliminate the need of allocating a dedicated operator to an essentially repetitive task.

Solution:
Paramount suggested the Motoman HP50 robot be integrated with the existing Aizawa press brake that was used to produce the parts manually. A turnkey solution was provided by Paramount including the robot, a squaring table, and a double-sheet detection unit. All components were integrated while ensuring the customer could still run the press brake manually. The repetitive part was programmed as part of the initial package and now Sable only has to load the appropriate tools in the brake, set a stack of blanks next to the robot, and press ‘Start’. The parts are now made at night effectively giving Sable Metal an extra shift without the personnel.

Since installation Sable has programmed several other parts for automation with similar cost savings and improved efficiency.
